Though on the surface Zumpano looks like just another cute nostalgia band, the songs on this album are barbed, drawing inspiration from the angular, baroque end of sixties pop. Their single, "The Party Rages On," is a keen, chirping tune, and the rest of the album holds up well, thanks in part to the edge provided by Sub Pop's hallmarked production. In the midst of grunge overkill, Zumpano's tunes are unfashionably melodic, which makes them a welcomed change of pace.
