Lamprey is one of those troublesome second albums; it's hardly going to ruin these critics' darlings of a year or two ago, but it really does nothing to enhance their reputation either. Too many songs sound like re-runs of Palomine. Carol Van Dijk still sings some catchy vocal parts, and though you're never quite sure what she's singing, you'll find yourself making up words to sing along. All in all, though, the band comes up with a draw on this one.
