There are plenty of critics out there who have been lauding Weezer's cheesy, stupid songs as good power pop. But while critics misdirect their fawning, Wax has debuted this album, which is the best garage/power pop album released in years. Its ten songs are quick, snappy, and to the point, with a punk spirit that has more in common with the Replacements than current corporate darlings Green Day. 13 Unlucky Numbers has it all: hooks to catch ya, loud guitars to make ya jump around the room, and a variety of styles keep ya interested. Their only worry may be avoiding getting snatched up and packaged for mass consumption.
